Dental Implants

Missing teeth may be replaced with artificial teeth. The most ideal way is dental implants. These are made of titanium metal and consist of the “root” portion that gets placed in the jawbone, the “stump” part that sticks out of the gums, the crown portion that goes on the stump much like a crown on a tooth. They feel almost like a real tooth.  Dental implants require healthy bone to provide long lasting results, therefore they may require a lengthy amount of time to complete if there isn’t enough bone to place implants.

Sometimes a tooth has to be removed because it is an impacted wisdom tooth,  tooth so badly decayed that it cannot be repaired, or tooth severely affected by periodontal disease (gum disease). Other than wisdom teeth, removing teeth will involve some form of teeth replacement after the tooth socket has healed.  And unless we’re talking about wisdom teeth, we certainly hope you won’t need any teeth extracted.  By prevention and early treatment (see other services) we at San Jacinto Dental really try to save teeth!  However, we understand that sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances, a tooth needs to be extracted.  We’re here to help.
